Child Poverty Summary
The dashboard below summaries’ the main three datasets that provide information on child poverty at the local authority are level and below. The dashboard allows you to compare the three datasets against each other and how they have changed over time. It also allows you to compare these changes for other North East authorities and English Regions.
Note: This dashboard was produced to highlight issues that have been identified in the last couple of Children in Low Income Family releases, as advised by DWP who have advised caution when comparing the latest two years of data with previous years as some of the data sources were affected during COVID due to difficulties in collection. The data suggests that child poverty in the North East and its 12 local authorities, has fallen. Local free school meal data, (a good proxy measure for poverty), in County Durham has continued to rise.
