On 30 June, REACH County Durham celebrated the official launch of the project with a morning networking event designed to discuss the who, what, why and how questions around health determinants research and evaluation across our County. Colleagues from Durham County Council, the VCSE sector, Durham University’s Wolfson Institute, the Institute for Medical Humanities, and Durham Research Methods Centre met at Durham University’s Waterside Building to hear about examples of collaborative research around health inequalities and consider and share ideas for developing similar research ideas into action. Speakers referred to ‘adding a new lens’ and ‘hearing more voices’ in ‘shared spaces’, with one attendee thankful for “[Thank you for] the opportunity to understand how other places collaborate and conceptualize developing research infrastructure in public health and local government”.
